At a recent conference in Toronto, one of the AI presenters started her presentation by saying: “AI is neither software nor hardware. It’s something entirely new.”
In a recent interview, physicist Michio Kaku posited that "Today’s artificial intelligence is as smart as a cockroach, a very retarded cockroach".
There are so many strong and intelligent opinions out there that it’s difficult to have your own thoughts on the matter, even with an exceptional amount of research.
Elon Musk, the creator of Tesla and a ton of other ventures is extremely concerned about the future dangers of AI saying: “I keep sounding the alarm bell, but until people see robots going down the street killing people, they don’t know how to react.”
Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook disagrees with Musk saying: “I have pretty strong opinions on this… I think you can build things and the world gets better, and with AI especially, I’m really optimistic. I think people who are naysayers and try to drum up these doomsday scenarios are — I just, I don’t understand it. It’s really negative and in some ways, I think it is pretty irresponsible.”
